About Green Key

Hotels together with tourism establishments gain the globally acknowledged Green Key eco-label through the Foundation for Environmental Education’s (FEE) assessment process for their extraordinary environmental sustainability practices.

Green Key has been a pioneering force in sustainable tourism for more than 30 years, playing a critical role in promoting environmentally conscious practices across the hospitality industry. Launched in 1994, the certification has grown to become one of the world’s largest and most respected eco-certifications, currently operating in over 70 countries and certifying more than 6,000 establishments globally, including hotels, hostels, campsites, and restaurants.

Green Key is more than just a certification program. It is actively involved in various global initiatives and projects to promote sustainable tourism. Green Key collaborates with UN Tourism (World Tourism Organization) and other international bodies to promote best practices in the industry.

Green Key also participates in education and outreach campaigns to raise awareness among both tourists and businesses about the importance of sustainability. Green Key’s vision for the future involves continuously evolving its standards to address new sustainability challenges, such as carbon reduction, plastic pollution, and biodiversity preservation.

A Commitment to Sustainability

As a leading tourism hotspot that offers luxurious facilities facing the Arabian Sea panorama, Hawana Salalah has consistently attracted travelers in search of both upscale living and natural vistas.

“We are incredibly proud to be a part of this green journey. The Green Key certification for Sifawy Boutique Hotel showcases our dedication to leading the hospitality industry into a more sustainable future,” said Renée Nicole Wagner, Corporate Director of ESG & Quality Management at OHM.

Through the Green Key certification, the hotel complex strengthens its commitment to protect Salalah’s immaculate natural environment known especially for its diverse ecological systems and generous plant life. Our goal is to guide our transition to sustainable development, improve the experience of our guests, set fundamental values and principles, and build a better future.

“We are proud to be part of a destination that values sustainability as highly as we do,” said Wagner. “This certification is just one step in our long-term strategy to enhance our environmental efforts while ensuring the highest standard of luxury for our guests.”
